THE MISSION OF TATTERED

The mission of Tattered, When the Blue Line Frays, is simple:

To help officers survive the moments that convince them they cannot.

Tattered exists to shine light into the places law enforcement culture too often keeps dark—Internal Affairs investigations, administrative isolation, damaged reputations, leadership failure, trauma, fear, alcohol abuse, depression, and suicidal thoughts. It is not a book written from bitterness or revenge. It is a survival guide born from lived experience.

At its core, the mission is to:

  • Prevent officer suicide

  • Encourage peer support and honest conversations

  • Challenge leadership failures driven by fear and optics

  • Promote truth, process, and accountability

  • Remind officers that a temporary moment does not deserve a permanent decision

  • Help agencies build healthier cultures for both officers and the public

  • Tattered stands for the belief that broken does not mean finished.

  • That careers, families, faith, purpose, and identity can survive even when the profession frays around them.

The mission is also deeply rooted in leadership:
“Truth Over Optics.”
“Silence Is a Decision.”
“Leadership Under Pressure.”

Through the book, Speaking Engagements, podcast appearances, peer support messaging, and future training, the goal is to leave policing better than it was found—and to make sure struggling officers know they are not fighting alone.
