The Confession of Justus is a deeply researched historical fiction novel following the journey of Justus Longinus, a Roman centurion stationed in Judea during the final days of Christ. Bound by loyalty to Rome and forged by a lifetime of military discipline, Justus is drawn into the political unrest, violence, and spiritual upheaval surrounding the crucifixion and aftermath of Jesus of Nazareth.

As he witnesses events that challenge everything he believes about power, truth, duty, and redemption, Justus begins a personal struggle between the authority he serves and the growing conviction that he has stood witness to something divine.

The novel combines historically grounded Roman military life, authentic first-century settings, and emotionally driven storytelling to create an immersive look at the Roman world through the eyes of a professional soldier. Themes of faith, honor, sacrifice, brotherhood, and conscience are woven throughout the story as Justus confronts the cost of truth in an empire built on control.

Author Arthur W. (Rusty) Myers III brings a unique level of authenticity to the work through more than 20 years of Roman historical reenacting and portrayal as a Roman centurion. His experience participating in historical living history events and passion plays directly inspired the novel and his stage productions Who Holds the Nails and Confession of Justus. That firsthand experience with Roman equipment, military structure, customs, and battlefield culture helped shape the realism and atmosphere found throughout the story.

Part military epic, part spiritual journey, Confession of Justus is ultimately a story about what happens when a hardened Roman officer comes face to face with history—and cannot walk away unchanged.
